9.2.26 - Lots of Little Writings
An update on a Wednesday? Sure, let’s do it
—
One of the discord servers that I’m in that is mostly writers has been doing a weekly writing challenge related to the main author’s world that she created. We’ve also been playing RPG sessions in that world, but that’s not currently relevant here. What IS relevant is that the writing challenges have a word limit of 1000 words. Which, I have found out, is very easy for me to overshoot. I’ve actually started keeping the word count on screen from the beginning so I can check myself as I’m writing.
Besides it being a lot of fun (both writing and reading what the others write), I think it’s been helping me exercise some of my writing skills related to being efficient with my words and figuring out what is necessary for the story and what isn’t. Obviously, with a normal story you usually aren’t confined to a word count, but I think it’ll still help keep things tighter and more focused, especially when I want them to be.

I’ve been 3D printing a lot of practical stuff (storage cubes, drawers, pen holders, etc) so I don’t have any cool pictures to post this time. I am looking to print a fun fox jewelry holder though, so maybe that’ll make it into the next update.

I did get some Fox Squad writing in though, so we’ll close out with a line from that!
“Hey, I love that you all are getting into birding, but could you not push me out of the chair?”
Cheers!
