6.28.26 - Woah, Post in the Afternoon?

Look at me posting when it’s still bright and sunny out!

Fox Squad got almost a chapter written, which may seem like not very much, but trust me, it feels monumental when it’s been a heckuva long time since I’ve written ANYTHING on it. I had to keep popping back to check what I’d written for the previous chapters, and eventually just decided that anything I wasn’t sure on I’d put in as a placeholder, because I accepted that when I finish the draft, that first readthrough is probably going to have a lot of tweaks. That’s what happens when a book is written over the course of years …

The 3D printer got a workout this week! It also had a few issues that I had to troubleshoot (one of which involved me taking the print head apart, not finding the problem, putting it back together, and it working fine … ) but luckily nothing has been too problematic. First thing that got completed is this sloth!

Flexi-sloth just hanging out

The design is from Blob Lab, which I have quite a few things from. They have pretty good models, easy to print and all have a nice unified appearance. Naturally, this one is for my wife, as are most cute things I 3D print, whether I intend them to be or not.

Look at that face!

Also in the 3D print world is a prop that I’m currently in the process of painting. All the pieces have been printed for a while, but it’s only bee partially painted, so I’m working on getting that finished up. It’s Kay Vess’s blaster from the game Star Wars Outlaws (design by MysteryMakers.

Pretty pleased with how the “leather” grip came out

And last but not least (or at least last that I’m remembering to write about), progress on Minas Tirith! I finished the lower part of the city, but instead of taking a picture that shows just half of a citadel, I took THIS picture, which incorporates a new cement mixer kit that I built!

“Hey, we gaht a delivery of cahncrete heah for a, uh, Stewahd Denethor?”

Gotta say, this set is a behemoth. Minas Tirith, not the cement mixer. Luckily I’ve already got a spot ready for it; it is not something you’d be able to just plop anywhere.

Next week I plan to have Kay’s blaster done, some more 3D prints, and maybe I’ll give a little snippet from what I’ve written! Nothing hits the spot like an out of context bit of text.
