6.14.26 - Act I Complete, Minas Tirith Commenced

Oops, forgot to post this last week! My bad!

Hello and welcome to the end of another week. Or the beginning of the week, if you follow the calendar, which doesn’t feel right. I mean, following the calendar does, but the fact that Sunday is at the beginning is loopy.

In writing news this week, I finished Act I of my interactive sapphic romance novel! This was the one where I was musing about the coding stuff last week. Well, I didn’t actually implement (or even try to implement) what I was talking about last week. Instead I knocked out the last couple scenes, then went through and did some error checks and debugging, and cleaned up a couple other things. Hopefully (fingers crossed) I stamped out all of the infinite loop problems. Nothing quite derails a story then not being able to progress, eh?

I gave it to some of my author friends, and hopefully will get some feedback on it! My intent now is to pivot back to Fox Squad and try to get a solid chunk complete on the final book BEFORE working on Elara/Eko. We shall see how that plan survives contact with reality.

My lil crochet dragon got the webbing of one wing complete. I don’t have a picture of it because, well, it’s not very much to show. I was hoping it to have gone by quicker so that I could get the actual wing edging done and have a full wing, but the yarn I am using for the webbing is … difficult. It’s a more natural yarn, so it has much more frizziness (that’s a word, don’t @ me, spellcheck), which led to a lot of stitches getting caught up and looking weird and me needing to redo sections. I think it came out looking good, but we’ll see how it goes once I add the edging. If it is too much of a struggle, I’ll just restart with a different yarn for the webbing.

What I DO have pictures of though is some new 3D prints! I completely neglected to talk about my 3D printing at all last week, which is a travesty, because I have been on a spree since getting my new printer. I am being a “3D printing menace”, in the kind words of my sister.

Anyway, this week was a set of coasters from a game that I’ve been playing, Clair Obscura: Expedition 33. Now I didn’t design these coasters, just printed them, and this is only 4 of the 8 that I printed.

Coasters!

They turned out gorgeous. I ordered some little grippy feet for them, and also printed a holder to keep them in.

Finally, I started on the Lego set, Minas Tirith. I got it last weekend, but had a game night on Wednesday so didn’t want to get going on it only to need to remove it from the table for game night. But here we are!

Gondor calls for aid! And for the rest of their citadel to be built.

Besides being very big, it’s wonderfully detailed and even with the small amount I’ve built so far it has crazy design work. The angles that the walls are at are accomplished with hinges and ball and socket joints, all lining up beautifully that just makes me marvel at the amount of calculation and engineering when Lego designed their bricks. Just so cool.

That’ll do it for this week. Until the next one!
